Music, Helping The Needy, Best Places To Work and Realtors Who Should Know Better

This has been a busy week, but truly enjoyable and worthwhile. Tuesday evening I heard a demonstration of the strings section of the orchestra at Gregory Middle School in Naperville (my granddaughter plays cello). Although they have only been practicing for a short while, they did an excellent job.

Also on Tuesday I attended a luncheon of the Naperville Neighbors and Newcomers club at White Eagle Country Club. There were 100 baskets of goodies to bid on plus a raffle. We had a wonderful time and most importantly over $4,600 was collected for 8 worthwhile local charities.

Thursday we had our annual office party at Basil's Restaurant at the mall. What made it extra special was we found out that Charles Rutenberg Realty was voted number four of medium size companies among the best to work for in the Chicagoland area.

On Saturday I had a working lunch with a couple of my real estate friends at Panera Bread in Naperville. The discussion immediately turned to short sales. This is when a homeowner cannot make his or her mortgage payments and the bank is willing to sell the home for a lower amount than it is worth. The problem we are having is that some Realtors are putting these homes on the market before any of the paperwork has been done. This makes it very difficult for those Realtors who are conducting real estate as it should be done and also buyers who may wait months to hear if their offer has been accepted on these homes. I, myself, recommend buyers look at foreclosed homes before they think about buying a short sale home. A foreclosed home is bank-owned so in most cases the buyer can close on it much more quickly than on a short sale home.  Please get in touch with me if you would like a list of foreclosed homes. I will need the town or towns, number of bedrooms, baths, price, etc.
